The New Year is here and week one is almost in the books ๐
Since we are still in winter, warm and comforting dishes make sense to cook. Iโve got a banger for you today.
Ironically this recipe will relate well to the weekend Substack Iโm going to drop about tips for Meal Planning. Make sure youโre subscribed
Chili con Carne ๐ถ
Chili is right up there with BBQ in regards to peoplesโ opinions, viewpoints. Both are culinary religions for many.
Just like BBQ, there are Chili competitions the world over where thousands+ of people gather to flex their โsuper secretโ method or spice blend hoping to walk away with a trophy ๐
The big chili debates (of which there are many)
-Ground Beef or Cubed Beef
-Beans or No Beans
-Tomato or No Tomato
-Fresh Chili or Dried Chilis
-Chili powder?
One thing we can all agree on.
Canned chili sucks.
I think of chili in 2 ways. Competition Chili & Home Chili.
Competition chili is going to be far more involved, take a longer amount of time to pull off and possibly be a little more temperamental to nail โjust rightโ. Itโs fun to do occasionally and when you have the time.
For home chili I want something delicious, satisfying and comforting. For this I have found no equal to the nostalgic chili my mom made for us growing up.
Aside from being insanely comforting, the spices and treatment make the flavors sing โchiliโ while not being fussy to cook and it makes a large portion.
No store bought chili powders here ๐
Perfect for a crowd, meal planningโฆ or like me, if you just wanted to eat off this for 5 days in a row ๐
Letโs cook up this comforting winter classic, Chili con Carne
