Do you have a traditional Christmas Eve meal? I always make Vegetable Beef Barley Soup along with some cinnamon streusel bread and blueberry bread. I am looking forward to adding in some of the peppercorn Octo spice. I like a peppery flavor to the soup.

Christmas eve is normally snack-type stuff, holiday handhelds, fudge, blond brownies etc

go to restaurant supply and get whatever brand they have, will get a couple years out of it then replace. I think Vollrath is a popular restaurant supply brand; dirt cheap too

We get 6lbs of roasts from the local ranch every month and we are getting a little bored. I have two roasts in the freezer right now. One is a beef round eye roast and it has pretty good marbling, I usually just smoke it and slice for beef sandwiches. Is there any other recipe that I should try with that cut?

The other is a beef rump roast, we usually put that roast into a stew, but not our favorite since it turns out a little dry. Looking to try something different and wondering if you had any suggestions. We have the ability to slice thin (meat slicer), cube or grind into hamburger if needed. Maybe use in a curry? Hash beef rice? I'm up for anything.

Thanks!

If you can grind and add fat to the rump roast try the Keema recipe in the Substack. If not, try the Boliche.

If the beef eye round has good marbling try using that in the Lamb Mughlai recipe, it's a flavor bomb and uses leg of lamb so just sub the beef round
