Love your focus on the basics! Would personally be interested in a detailed overview on how to prepare Japonica varieties of rice (from rinsing to boiling without using a rice cooker).

you say that the brand of the rice matters quite a bit.

What brands do you recommend for some high quality basmati rice?

I've noticed that there's a huge difference in quality at restaurants that charge $2 for rice vs $5 for rice.

Please do a more in depth dive on cooking Basmati. I can tell I’m on the right path, yet my outcome is terribly inconsistent.
